Equipment

  • blender
  • Bowl
  • Cup
  • Pitcher
  • Strainer
  • Plastic wrap
  • Large bowl
  • Stirring Spoon/Stick

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of White Rice Uncooked and Cleaned
  • 1 Can of Evaporated Milk
  • 1 Can of Condensed Milk
  • 2 tsp of Sugar
  • Cinnamon Powder If you have the extra time and would like to you can also boil water or milk with cinnamon sticks. This way, the sweet flavors go into the milk/water and you can pour it into your horchata drink!

Instructions

  • The first step in this horchata recipe with condensed milk is to properly prepare the ingredients. It is important, for example, to wash the rice before putting it in water, cinnamon, and the fridge overnight. Rice comes from stores and sometimes has been sitting in the bags for over a year, picking up dirt and dust.
  • During this second step in this horchata recipe condensed milk, you should add water to the rice in a large bowl. Make sure to also add cinnamon powder or cinnamon sticks and refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours. I prefer to leave it overnight though.
  • When you are ready to make this horchata recipe with condensed milk, you can take out the cinnamon sticks from the rice milk and water mixture. Then add the ingredients to the blender and blend until the drink is fine.
  • Once the ingredients have all been blended, it is best to strain the mixture. Since rice and cinnamon clump up and are gritty, this means that large chunks can get in the way. Either use a small strainer and water or cheese cloth to get the rice water/milk mixture.
  • After you have strained the mixture, you can place the remainder of the drink into a large pitcher with ice. You do not need to add any extra ingredients, but if you want to add garnish, use cinnamon sticks or cinnamon powder. Enjoy and refrigerate up to a week covered.

Notes

  • There are a few instructions/tips and tricks I can give you to make this horchata recipe condensed milk a lot easier and smoother to try. While it is already broken down into a quick, easy to read guide, I do also recommend making the drink into a dirty horchata.
  • If you like coffee and you also love horchata, then a dirty horchata is perfect for you! In this drink, you will need to add more cinnamon, whole milk, and also a shot of espresso per serving. This is a delicious and refreshing authentic Mexican drink that is perfect for bringing up your mood and caffeine levels!
