Mexican Fruit Roll Up

Just Mexican Food
What do you think about our take on the Mexican fruit roll-up? Unlike most Mexican foods and sweets, this delicious fruit roll-up is a new concept. While you can simply use a pre-made fruit roll-up candy, it is best to make it from scratch. The finishing touches are the tajin and chamoy!

Equipment

  • Blender or Food Processor
  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • smoothening spatula
  • Parchment Paper

Ingredients

  • 5 Mexican Mangos
  • 1 Small Orange
  • 2 tbsp chamoy
  • 1 tbsp Tajin
  • 2 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp of red chili pepper flakes You can add more than one teaspoon however, I like the taste to the chamoy and Tajin in this Mexican fruit roll up recipe to shine! Try not to add over 3 teaspoons or 2 tablespoons of red chili pepper flakes because they can overpower the fruit roll up!

Instructions

  • During the first step in this Mexican fruit roll-up recipe, you will need to process the fruit. I like doing this by first peeling both the mangos and the oranges. Afterwards, take the seeds or pits out of the fruit and add the remainder of the fruit into the blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth and has a similar texture to smoothies.
  • Afterwards, get a baking sheet with parchment paper and line it up. On the parchment paper, spray a non-stick spray or butter it so that the fruit roll-up does not get stuck to the pan or paper! I like to add some sugar to the blend before adding the puree onto the baking sheet.
  • Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Once it reaches the temperature, pour the mixture onto the parchment paper and smooth using a spatula. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the mixture is tightly together. Keep checking every ten minutes so the mango and orange puree does not burn.
  • Now, onto the spices! When adding the rest of the ingredients in this Mexican fruit roll up recipe, have fun with it! I like to add as many seasonings, Tajin, and Chamoy as possible! Think of these ingredients as toppings.
  • The last and final step during this easy Mexican fruit roll up recipe is to use a cookie cutter or sharp knife to cut the Mexican fruit roll up once it is cooled down! Peel them off of the parchment paper, and enjoy! Looking to store these candies? Always refrigerate them as they can go bad quickly without preservatives!

Notes

  • Since this recipe is so easy to do at home, you won't need a lot of guidance when making them! Instead though, I recommend having fun! Get creative with your mixtures. I know someone who loves adding candies like pop rocks and sour gummy worms as Mexican fruit roll up toppings.
  • Did you know you can also speed up the hardening process? While the oven does a great job baking these delicious treats, you can also freeze them!
