Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Cutting knife
  • Clean working space
  • Small bowl
  • container with lid

Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1-2 jalapenos
  • 1 medium hass avocado diced
  • 2 freshly squeezed limes
  • 2 large red tomatoes
  • 1/2 yellow sweet onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 3 tablespoons of chopped cilantro

Instructions

  • The first step in our pico de gallo with avocado recipe is to prepare the vegetables. You will need to slice and dice all of the vegetables on the list. One this is complete, set them aside in a bowl of ice water so that they do not dehydrate.
  • You are going to begin preparing the pico de gallo with avocado by placing sea salt, a small amount of water and your tomatoes and onions into a small bowl. Toss around and mix the ingredients well together. Tomatoes absorb seasonings and flavors like sea salt really well.
  • During the third step, add the rest of the chopped and diced vegetables. Leave the avocadoes though and the limes for the very last step. Make sure to mix in the vegetables with a spoon, but do not blend or mash the ingredients together. Instead keep the peppers and teh vegetables/fruits as intact as possible.
  • The last and final step during the pico de gallo with avocado recipe is to dice the avocados on top of the vegetable and fruit mixture. You will need to make sure to find a container that has a tight lid. On top of the avocados, spread and squeeze fresh lime juice generously.

Notes

  • Instead of using avocado, try a new recipe or twist and instead dice mangos, strawberries, or other tropical and fresh fruits like papaya. These fruits are amazing because they go well with spicey peppers like jalapenos and salty seasonings like sea salt.
  • Avocados are a bit hard to maintain. This is why we use lime on top of them so that the avocados do not go bad. If you do not like the taste of lime, we recommend making pico de gallo without avocado. Instead, when you go to eat your meal, take a fresh and new avocado and dice a few slices to add on top of your dish.
  • This will keep your pico de gallo lasting longer, while also giving you the opportunity to enjoy all the delicious nutrients that comes with avocados!
