  • 4 ounces canned diced green chiles including their flavorful juices

Method

Step 1: Prep & Preheat
  1. Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with foil or a silicone mat for easier cleanup.
Step 2: Mix the Spread
  1. In a medium bowl, thoroughly combine the softened butter, mayo, green chiles (with their juices), and shredded cheddar cheese until well blended.
Step 3: Slice & Slather
  1. Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise.
  2. Spread the chile-cheese mixture evenly across both cut sides of the bread.
  3. Arrange the halves, cut-side up, on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 4: Bake & Broil
  1. Bake at 500°F for 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
  2. Then switch to broil and cook until the topping is bubbly and lightly browned—watch closely (about 1–2 minutes).
Step 5: Slice & Serve
  1. Remove the bread, let cool just a bit, then slice into portions.
  2. Serve warm and watch it disappear fast!
