How To Make Steak Tacos With Taco Seasoning At Home

Last Updated on December 6, 2021 by

If you’re a taco fan, you’ll probably like to know how to make steak tacos with taco seasoning.

In the US, tacos with ground beef are by far the most popular. This is especially true when they’re coupled with crunchy hard shells. However, it appears that the tides are changing in recent years. With the success of traditional restaurants and popular franchises like Chipotle, more and more people have been falling in love with the savory taste of freshly grilled steak carnitas. Carnitas are served up on a soft tortilla that truly does hug its contents.

The fact that these Mexican-style tacos have taken so long to catch on is pretty odd when you take into account that grilling culture in this part of the world is so huge. If you spend a considerable amount of time grilling burgers, hot dogs, and steaks, you would eventually be tempted by the idea of adapting it to making Mexican-style tacos.

What You Need To Know About Tacos

Another preference in the US that doesn’t align with Mexican preferences is the type of shell that they like to use. They opt for the crunchy variety over the softer tortillas as they consider the softer kind to have considerably less taste. This may technically be true in some respect. However soft tortillas are ideal for steak tacos as they absorb the natural juices of the steak in the best of ways.

The best part of a steak taco is the seasoning that you can prepare to make it more flavorful. If you love to dine at an authentic Mexican restaurant, you may be under the impression that making a tasty taco would be quite hard. Tips And Tricks

In general, you cannot only use this seasoning with steak soft taco recipes but also with ground beef, and other white and red meats.

Either way, you need to make sure that the seasoning is caked to the meat. Don’t be shy to use a spoon to press the condiments onto the meat.

To make sure that the seasoning is kept fresh, choose a container with a lid that closes hermetically. Keep the container in a place with a homogeneous room temperature, where it is neither too hot nor cold. Accordingly, the kitchen might not be the best place to store the seasoning.

You can always buy all these condiments at the supermarket. However, to achieve a more distinct and stronger taste, we recommend that you buy them at a farmers market. Also, you can also grow some of these in your garden. It will take longer, but everybody will be able to taste the difference.

Conclusion

To really appreciate the kinds of flavors that tacos feature, you need to understand that there is a great variety in Mexico. As such, the kind of meat that you use is absolutely key. A pork chop taco is very different from a fish taco in terms of the marinade, and so forth.

Also, they are cooked in different ways. In Mexico City, by far, the most common taco is called al pastor, or the shepherd’s taco. This taco uses pork meat. People love it because it is juicy through not only the marinade that it uses but the process of it being cooked on a turning spigot. This method comes from ottoman cooking traditions.

Another important consideration is the type of chili pepper that people prefer to use. This condiment is often directly related to the type of chili pepper that’s grown in each region. These chilies have been very important for many communities all throughout Mexico as people have used them to preserve the meat from the animals that they hunt.

For instance, in the state of Yucatan, where it is very hot, people use one of the hottest varieties in the world, the habanero, to cook one of their most prized dishes, cochinita pibil. This dish contains pork as well as purple onion.  This vegetable grows extensively in this part of the country.

In short, there are many factors to consider when you’re preparing tacos with seasoning. Even the type of tortilla that you eventually use plays a big role in the ultimate outcome. The last thing that you want is for flavors to neutralize each other completely. You want them to complement each other to come away with something new and enjoyable.
