What Is Pico De Gallo?

Pico de gallo is sometimes eaten as a sauce, but it is actually a topping that pairs deliciously with many corn tortillas, heavy meat dishes, and salads. You can enjoy pico de gallo with breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals as a flavorful and fresh side!

Pico de gallo is made by chopping fresh vegetables with strong scents and flavors. Unlike thick salsas, you won’t need to blend your pico de gallo into a puree, instead, the whole point of enjoying pico de gallo is the satisfying crunch that comes with enjoying the sweet topping.

The Health Benefits Of Avocados

Not all pico de gallo recipes use avocado or other fruits and vegetables. However, we like to add avocados to our pico de gallo because of how healthy they are! In just one serving of a medium-sized hass avocado (the most popular avocados in Mexico) there are 136 calories in one entire avocado.

You won’t need to eat an avocado in one sitting, since it will be chopped and mixed with the rest of the pico de gallo ingredients. One health study also found that hass avocados contain healthy nutrients necessary for our bodies to function like potassium, vitamin A, vitamin C, magnesium, and folate.

In other words, with how healthy it is to eat avocados, you won’t need to worry about the health benefits. Instead, enjoy the nutrient dense avocados alongside your breakfast, lunches, and dinners.
